Kofi Owusu, the head of Daddy Lumba's family, is once again in the news following the demise of the Ghanaian highlife legend.

The elderly man, speaking in an interview with Kontonkyie TV, retracted his earlier comments about the musician's widow, Odo Broni.

Kofi Owusu clarified that Daddy Lumba’s widow had adhered to all traditions and had appropriately communicated the news of his death.

He then confirmed that his beloved relative and famous musician was indeed no more.

He also stated that even though he did not know Odo Broni personally, others, such as Daddy Lumba's siblings, attested to her being a good person.

Kofi Owusu's initial comments on Odo Broni

Kofi Owusu received a lot of flak after he openly criticised Daddy Lumba's widow, accusing her of being disrespectful.

He warned that any attempt by the grieving widow to sideline the family during the musician's funeral would not be accepted.

Ghana was thrown into mourning after Daddy Lumba’s lawyer, in a statement, announced that the highlife legend had died.

The statement indicated that Daddy Lumba passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he was receiving treatment.

The new video of Kofi Owusu clearing the air about Odo Broni garnered over 1,500 likes at the time of writing this report.

Candlelight vigil planned for Daddy Lumba

The Creative Agency has since announced that a candlelight vigil would be held in honour of Daddy Lumba on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra, commencing at 6:00 p.m.

A book of condolence has also been opened at the late musician’s private residence as of Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
