The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has reacted to the death of Dr Edward Omane Boamah on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The Communications Minister took to his official Facebook page to mourn the demise of Omane Boamah, with whom he had a close relationship.

Samuel Nartey George recounted his frequent conversations with the late Defence Minister. He noted that his late colleague always tasked him with the responsibility of caring for his mother in his absence.

He also recounted the impact of the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah on his political career and family life.

The Communications Minister also shared how the late Defence Minister has been guiding him since he was appointed to his cabinet role after the NDC returned to power in January 2025.

In a lengthy social media post, he wrote:

"Where do I start, and to whom do I turn? Everyone else is distraught and in despair? How does such a tragedy befall a man so calm and warm? How do you leave me and the squad like this?"

"The tears flow even when I try to compose myself. Composure is a distant reality for me, as the pain I feel cannot be expressed fully. Kofi, why? How? This is not what we agreed!"

"You always asked me who would take care of your Mum if anything were to ever happen to you. What did you know that you had from me? Rita and the kids? Who can be there for them like you? Oh, why?"

"No one has been of greater help or support to me in my political career. I call you Boss, and you call me Bro. You didn't just care about my politics, you cared and loved my family."

"You chose the school for my kids and even ask me every term about their performance. You were not a Colleague, you were the elder brother I didn't have."

"You would call me and admonish me when you saw a social media post of mine. Who would guide me now? You have been my compass and guiding light these past 7 months since I was appointed Minister."

"Preparing me for Cabinet and showing me the ropes. Who do I turn to now? My faith is shaken. My belief is gone. We are told to give thanks in all things. How can I give thanks in this? How do I say it is well?"

Omane Boamah, others dead in helicopter crash

The Defence Minister was among eight individuals who perished in a tragic helicopter crash at the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, and Former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East Samuel Aboagye were among the victims of the tragic helicopter crash.

Army personnel Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah also tragically passed.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, confirmed the passing of the two ministers and the six others, who were en route to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in Obuasi.

Omane Boamah's family mourn his demise

In another story reported by YEN.com.gh, Dr Omane Boamah's family mourned his demise after they were officially informed of the tragic news.

In a video, an elderly woman was grief-stricken as she questioned why God failed to save the Defence Minister from the tragic incident.

The sad scenes occurred during a delegation's visit to Dr Omane Boamah's family home in Koforidua.
