EOCO detains Shatta Wale over yellow Lamborghini
Shatta Wale was detained by the financial crimes agency on Wednesday, August 20, in relation to an investigation into his 2019 yellow Lamborghini Urus.
According to reports, the musician was hit with charges of money laundering, tax fraud, tax evasion, and possession of the proceeds of crime.
His detention occurred after the agency extended an invitation to him, which he honoured on Wednesday (August 21, 2025).
According to a statement from his management, he willingly showed up following the invite, which they insisted was only due to tax issues related to his yellow Lamborghini.
"The management of dancehall artist Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr.) is issuing this statement following his detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) today. This follows an inquiry related to tax obligations on the purchase of a yellow Lamborghini vehicle," the statement released by his manager Sammy Flex said.
His management has slammed the EOCO for detaining Shatta Wale when he willingly honoured their invite.
Sammy Flex assured Shatta Movement fans that the legal team were working assiduously to ensure his release.
"Mr. Mensah presented himself voluntarily at the EOCO offices this afternoon, along with his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, to assist with investigations. We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. They are taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity," the statement added.
The EOCO granted Shatta Wale GH₵10 million bail, which his legal team worked hard to meet on Thursday, August 21.
