The Aben Wo Ha hitmaker, who churned out over 30 chart-topping albums throughout his illustrious four-decade career, died from a short illness while on admission at the Bank Hospital located at Cantonments in Accra.
Many Ghanaians, including prominent figures like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former President Nana Akufo-Addo, President John Dramani Mahama and others, mourned and paid tribute to Daddy Lumba on social media.
Lumba's family member speaks on his demise
Following his passing, an alleged member of Daddy Lumba's family has publicly spoken about the deceased musician's health issues.
In an interview with Accra-based radio station Angel FM, an unidentified elderly woman, who is reportedly an aunt of the deceased, shared that the highlife musician had been battling health issues in his spine.
She claimed that the musician failed to appear at an event held by his alma mater, Juaben Senior High School, following his Legends Night concert some months ago.

Daddy Lumba's family member stated that the deceased highlife musician later informed him about his severe health condition, which had left him in a wheelchair after she called to inquire about his absence from the school event.
She said:
"I only knew about his spinal issues. I didn't see him for a long time after the Legends Night event. He was booked to perform at Juaben Secondary School's anniversary event, but he failed to show up when I went there."

"I called him on my way home and asked why he did not attend the event. He told me he had fallen ill after the Legends Night event and had been paralysed. He said he was in a wheelchair."
According to the woman, the deceased musician claimed that medical professionals had failed to properly diagnose his health condition.
She claimed that Daddy Lumba's friends had also struggled to identify the issue and seek a remedy despite multiple consultations outside the medical space.
The woman noted that she took the late highlife musician to another medical facility, where he underwent successful surgery.
She added that she had not heard from Daddy Lumba for a while until she received the news of his unfortunate passing.

The legendary musician visited his deceased colleague's residence with his wife and other important personalities on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
