Kumasi residents hold funeral for Daddy Lumba

The group known as Daddy Lumba Fan Club, located in Kumasi, decided to honour the highlife legend with a befitting funeral on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

In the video trending on social media, his song Ankwanoma, which was released in 1990, was played through the loudspeakers at the event.

People were clad in red and black, the official colours worn by mourners in Ghana to the funeral of a deceased person who did not attain an old age.

A Ghanaian lady shared the video on TikTok, showing mourners seated while others sang and danced to the Enim A Yedi Di Sika hitmaker's songs.

One lady at the celebration was gripped with deep sorrow as she hugged a Daddy Lumba banner while wailing and crying.
