Chairman Wontumi: Kennedy Agypong Storms EOCO Office, Gets Nice Reception From Police, Video

A stalwart of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong, has earned the admiration of many in the wake of his actions after the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Chairman Wontumi is currently being investigated for allegedly causing financial loss to the state.
A new video sighted by YEN.com.gh on the TikTok page of @ghbrain showed that the NPP flagbearer aspirant visited the EOCO head office in Accra on May 28, 2025.

Although it remains unclear whether Wontumi is currently being detained at EOCO, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, who was in the company of First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dankwa Smith Butey, was seen being given directions by a police officer.
He was then captured in a hearty moment with some police officers.

Onlookers and other persons who noticed Kennedy Agyapong could also not hide their excitement as they began showering him with praise, with some labelling him as the incoming president.
Kennedy Agyapong calls out campaign member
Speaking to journalists, Kennedy Agyapong expressed unhappiness that Wontumi was facing such an ordeal.
He also dissociated himself from comments made by a member of his campaign team, Alex Kwaku Tetteh, claiming that he masterminded the arrest of Chairman Wontumi.
Kennedy Agyapong denied any involvement in the arrest of Wontumi and called out those rejoicing over the development.
"Because he's in my camp, people think I support what he did, but I don't. And besides, I'm very upset with him," Kennedy Agyapong fumed.
EOCO grants Wontumi bail
Andy Appiah Kubi, the lawyer for Chairman Wontumi, has confirmed that his client has been granted bail to the tune of GH¢50 million with two sureties to be justified.
The former MP confirmed the new development on Wednesday, May 28, after Chairman Wontumi underwent a long interrogation at the EOCO headquarters since Tuesday, May 27.
The constituency chairman for Tema West, Kwesi Opoku, told Citi News that Kennedy Agyapong had even offered to help the NPP regional chairman meet his bail conditions.
“I am confirming. The counsel, Appiah-Kubi, was telling Kennedy Agyapong what the bail conditions are", Kwesi Opoku said.

Man disappointed after witnessing Wontumi's arrest
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a young man who was on the scene when Chairman Wontumi was arrested on May 27, 2025, by EOCO officials has given his account of what he saw.
In a video on TikTok, the young man who seemed visibly shaken indicated that he was traumatised because of the mode of arrest, especially considering the brazen manner in which Chairman Wontumi was whisked away.
The young man's account on the mode of arrest has generated a lot of reactions online.
