Controversial Ghanaian activist Ralph St Williams has broken his silence after the Ridge Hospital Investigative Committee cleared him of assault against a nurse, Rejoice Tsotsoo Bortei.

The outspoken activist went viral on social media on Sunday, August 17, following a heated confrontation with emergency ward nurses at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.

He recorded himself angrily blasting nurses at the facility after they failed to promptly attend to a critically ill patient he had brought to the facility.

Ralph accused one nurse of claiming that he cannot pressure them to do their jobs, which triggered him to go on a lengthy rant about the lack of professionalism among Ghanaian health workers.

One nurse, Rejoice Bortei, later accused Ralph St Williams of assaulting her, and Ridge Hospital shared CCTV footage to back up her claim.

Bortei said in an interview that she suffered a dislocated shoulder and other severe injuries and sued St Williams for assault and defamation.

Ridge Hospital report clears Ralph St Williams

The Minister of Health empanelled a committee in the wake of the incident to investigate and provide its findings.

The Ridge Assault Investigative Committee presented its report on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

In the report, the committee said they found no medical evidence that the nurse suffered the serious injuries she claimed to have sustained in the clash with Ralph St Williams.

The committee also said no video evidence was provided to prove that a physical assault occurred.

Ralph St Williams reacts to Ridge report

Following the committee’s findings, Ralph St Williams took to Facebook to share his thoughts.

He shared a video showing another confrontation he had with a Ridge Hospital worker.

Ralph noted that after the confirmation that no assault occurred, the young man who had been arrested and remanded in connection with the incident had been proven innocent and must be released.

“So what happens to the young man that was remanded and still in jail over this same assault case 😡 John Dramani Mahama, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.” he queried.
