On the occasion of his 33rd wedding anniversary, President John Dramani Mahama shared a light-hearted moment, reflecting on his marriage to Lordina Mahama.

During a speech on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, after a visit from a delegation of the Western Region House of Chiefs, Mahama joked that any attempt to argue with his wife was already a lost cause.

He went on to explain the joke with a personal story from their 30th wedding anniversary.

He recalled an argument with his wife, where she humorously claimed that she was the one who kept their marriage strong.

According to him, he learned his lesson when his pastor called him aside and coached him that he would never win such an argument with his wife.

"Thinking of arguing with your wife? Don’t bother, you’ve already lost," Mahama playfully said.

President Mahama receives 33rd wedding anniversary gift

The anniversary celebration was made even more special with the Chiefs presenting gifts to the president to mark the occasion.

The Chiefs expressed their respect and admiration for Mahama and his family, making the event a memorable occasion for all in attendance.

The President also took to his Facebook page to mark this major milestone with his wife.

President Mahama shared a radiant photo of the First Lady smiling, along with a short, but deeply affectionate message stating:

“33 years of pure bliss, love, laughter, and unwavering support. Happy anniversary, my love.”

Mahama and Lordina’s relationship has often been admired for its quiet strength, with Lordina playing a key role in both his political journey and their shared philanthropic efforts.

Together, they have five children.

President Mahama is the current party leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), one of the two main political formations in Ghana.

Before becoming president, he served in various key roles, including as Vice President from 2009 to 2012 and as a Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi.

He also held ministerial positions, including Minister of Communications and Minister of Finance.
