Some market women in Kumasi have warmed hearts as they went above and beyond to honour the legacy of deceased highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
In videos circulating online, the women pooled their efforts together and began collecting donations to be channeled towards organising a local funeral observance in memory of Daddy Lumba.

The women printed a banner bearing the singer's image with preparations already underway to organise a memorable observance to be attended by locals and other people wishing to observe a moment of silence for a fallen soldier.

In a video circulating online, two women could be seen holding up the banner, while one of their colleagues went around the market with a carton, collecting and soliciting for donations.
The women were so spirited in their efforts, that the lady collecting the donations could be heard telling a man that she loves him in an effort to convince him to donate to the cause.
To make the atmosphere lively, they also held up a speaker while Daddy Lumba's song played in the background.

Vigil to honour Lumba's legacy scheduled
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture officially confirmed that a national candlelight vigil in honour of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
A flyer spotted on social media indicated the event will likely be held at the Black Star Square in Accra, a venue spacious enough to welcome the thousands of fans and sympathisers expected to pay their respects to the Mensei Da hitmaker.

The event, dubbed the National Candlelight Vigil, is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and will feature a series of activities to celebrate the life and legacy of the iconic musician.
Tributes, performances of Lumba's timeless songs, and reflections from industry peers are expected to headline the evening.

Wife requests Daddy Lumba donation from husband
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that a Ghanaian woman jokingly told her white husband that they needed to pay £150 as a tribute to the family of late singer Daddy Lumba.
She claimed Ghanaians who had used the late singer's music for ceremonies and other events were contributing money to his family.
The husband, visibly unaware it was a prank, believed her story and agreed to send the money, stirring reactions from Ghanaians.
