Ghanaians are mourning the untimely passing of late music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

A vigil organised by Ghana's Creative Arts industry has been held in honour of the great highlife musician.

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, hundreds of Ghanaians and non-Ghanaian Lumba fans thronged the Independence Square to mourn the legend.

First videos from the event show almost all attendees clad in either black or red attire, wearing sad looks.

In one of the videos making the rounds on TikTok, some die-hard Lumba fans were spotted holding torchlights and candles while making their way to the event grounds.

It was a solemn moment where Daddy Lumba's loved ones gathered to honour his memory after his tragic death.

Charles Kwadwo Fosu's children were also spotted at the event. Daddy Lumba's children were seated in the front row of the candlelight vigil.

They were all dressed in black as they observed the proceedings of the ceremony held to celebrate the Makra Mo crooner.

Ghanaians mourn Daddy Lumba after his demise

Daddy Lumba's sad demise has plunged the nation into grief. The music legend passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra. He succumbed to a brief illness.

Scores of dignitaries have thronged his residence to pay tribute and commiserate with the bereaved family. Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Kennedy Agyapong, popularly known as Kenpong, and others. Former President Nana Akufo-Addo visited Lumba's residence.

The former President was filled with grief when he visited the late Daddy Lumba's residence to commiserate with his bereaved family.

In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, the former president was visibly distraught and almost in tears during his visit to the music legend's East Legon house.

Nana Akufo-Addo was accompanied by former Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare, the former National Lottery Authority Director-General Sammy Awuku, and the former Presidential Secretary Nana Asante Bediatuo during his visit to Lumba's family.

In honour of Daddy Lumba's memory, a vigil organised by Ghana's Creative Arts Industry has been held. The event was held simultaneously in different countries like Germany, the USA, the UK and others.

His kids could not contain their grief during the candlelight service held at Independence Square.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Daddy Lumba's grieving widow unveiled the late musician's last wish before his heartbreaking demise.

Odo Broni wept bitterly as she recalled how the deceased music legend always spoke about the unfulfilled dream that meant so much to him.
