Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation has appealed to fellow Ghanaians to observe empathy following a devastating helicopter crash.

Taking to his X account, the Minister pleaded with the public to show restraint in the wake of the military helicopter crash that led to the gruesome death of eight people.

Sam mourns ministers' deaths in helicopter crash

Among the eight victims were two well recognised ministers of State.

In the tweet, Sam George urged the public to refrain from circulating 'unwholesome' images and videos of the crash scene in order to respect the families of the deceased.

His tweet reads:

"Dear Fellow Citizens,
I plead with you to show some restraint and decorum in these trying moments. Let us have respect for the families of the departed and stop spreading those unwholesome videos.
I beg you all to show some empathy and humanity. These are very difficult moments for us all. Thank you."

His call comes amid widespread mourning across the country following the deaths of Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and Minister of Defence Edward Omane Boamah, among others, in the Adansi Akrofuom District on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Sam George's plea for sensitivity came after social media was flooded with tributes and disturbing visuals of the crash site.

Eyewitness shares details of helicopter crash

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that an eyewitness who was present at the accident scene shared details of the unfortunate helicopter crash.

He shared that the Z-9 helicopter lost its balance as it hit a tree and a mountain before going down in flames in the thick forest in Adansi Akrofum.

The eyewitness also explained that nobody survived the unfortunate helicopter crash. He added that the deceased were burnt beyond recognition.
