He stated that it was Asiedu Nketia himself who made this disclosure to him and others in Koforidua.
"Yesterday when we went to Koforidua, my National Chairman was explaining that he was supposed to have been on the flight, but something had come up, hence the Vice Chairman should stand in his stead. He said he ought to have been on that flight."
Luck, however, eluded Dr Sarpong and other high-ranking officials on the flight when the Z-9 helicopter crashed at the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District in the Ashanti Region.
The unfortunate accident claimed the lives of eight individuals who were set to attend the official launch of rCOMSDEP in Obuasi.
Two cabinet ministers aboard the helicopter were the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
