In the wake of the tragic death of the two ministers and six others, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the former Minister of Youth and Sports, paid his tribute to the victims.

In a video spotted by YEN.com.gh, the politician, during an interview, said he could not hold back tears when he heard about the devastating helicopter crash that happened on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

It was confirmed that eight people lost their lives in the tragic Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash, throwing the country into a state of mourning.

Elvis pays tribute to helicopter crash victims

In view of their death, the former sports minister solemnly paid tribute to the dedicated members of National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In his heartfelt speech he mentioned his personal experience and the relationship he had with Omane, Murtala, and Sarpong.

He mentioned how Boamah recently told him he wrote a book on former president John Atta Milles (titled A Peaceful Man In An African Democracy), and he was featured in it.

Nigerians react to Ghana's tragic helicopter crash

It was reported that the Z9 helicopter, with three crew and five passengers, took off from the capital, Accra, at 09:12 am (GMT) and was heading to the town of Obuasi for an event to tackle illegal mining.
