Captain Smart suggests cause of helicopter crash
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Onua TV journalist, Captain Smart, has come under fire after suggesting that the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash near Obuasi may have been caused by a bird. He claimed large birds like vultures and crows are responsible for many crashes.
The crash in the Sikaman Forest killed eight, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Dr Samuel Sarpong, and senior military officers. They were heading to Obuasi for a government programme, and the nation observed three days of mourning.
His comments drew backlash from Ghanaians, who accused him of making baseless claims. A video of Dr Omane Boamah’s final moments before boarding the ill-fated helicopter has also gone viral.
