While appearing at a 12-minute live interview on Joy Prime, the politician narrated how the operators of DStv reportedly refused to make any price reductions regarding their bundles.

The Communication Minister claimed that MultiChoice Ghana was involved in intense behind-the-scenes lobbying to pressure him into taking back his directive for a price decrease.

The minister, during his explanation on the situation of his demands, disclosed that he had decided to shift the ultimatum, which was earlier August 7, to September 6, 2025, for the sake of Ghanaians.

In his words.

“I told them that with the economic hardship, they need to cut down their prices to make DStv more affordable for the average Ghanaian household.
“MultiChoice told me that their position is that they are not going to drop the prices even by 1 cent,” he disclosed.

George continued by explaining that DStv’s recent 15% price increase in April 2025 was strange and unexpected, given the appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi by 10 percent, the inflation drop, and the decrease in fuel prices.

"Forcing DStv to cut prices down is just a short-term and myopic solution. Let’s create a more competitive market for them, and in the long run, let’s observe their reaction. The problem with Ghanaian politicians is they see today and tomorrow and go to bed after."
