Samuel Sarpong’s Last Call Moments Before Helicopter Crash Disclosed, KMA Boss Shares Details

The Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has left many sad after sharing details of what Dr. Samuel Sarpong did just before the Z 9 helicopter crash.
In a post sighted by YEN.com.gh on the Facebook page of Joy News, the KMA boss, in an interview while discussing the Z9 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people on August 6, 2025, disclosed that the NDC vice-chairman, who was among the passengers, made a phone call.

He indicated that the late Samuel Sarpong placed a call to Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum, a former Ambassador to the United States of America under the erstwhile John Evans Atta Mills' government, but unfortunately, the call was not answered.
"Honorable Dr. Samuel Sarpong had attempted to call Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum. Unfortunately, during that time, Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum could not return the call."
He then explained that other passengers on board the flight also tried contacting other people upon realising the helicopter was struggling to land.
The KMA boss concluded by saying this happened moments before the helicopter crashed.
"While on board and experiencing difficulty landing, they tried to communicate with those they could reach. All of this occurred just before the crash", the KMA boss said in the interview.

Details of the helicopter crash
Samuel Sarpong was among the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in the helicopter crash that occurred in the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District in the Ashanti Region.

The helicopter was en route from Accra to Obuasi for the official launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in Obuasi before the tragic incident.
A video shared by the Defence Press Corps days after the tragic incident on Facebook captured the final moments when Dr. Omane Boamah was seen aboard the Z9 helicopter en route to Obuasi from Accra.
He was then seen waving goodbye to some individuals as the helicopter prepared for takeoff.
