A Ghanaian lady based in the United Kingdom has broken down and explained the salary structure of her profession as a medical practitioner in a foreign country.

Taking to her TikTok page, the junior medical doctor, identified as Dr Gpeg, provided a detailed and transparent breakdown of her salary as a Foundation Year 1 resident doctor in the UK.
The young lady said she was making the disclosure transparently through her video to shed more light on the National Health Service (NHS) resident doctors’ pay scales.
Her video served as a practical guide for aspiring medics, particularly Ghanaians in the medical field who were considering a move to the UK.
UK-based Ghanaian doctor shares salary breakdown
She started her video by disclosing that the starting annual salary for a doctor at her level is £38,831 (approximately GH₵582,000). She then explained that the payment is based on an hourly rate, as doctors work 40 hours per week at her level.

According to her, the hourly rate begins with £18.62 (approximately GH₵279).
This detail, she explained, is used to determine a doctor's monthly income. She also explained that this can vary significantly based on their specific role and shifts.
In her words:
"My current placement is ward-based and doesn't include on-call shifts, night shifts, or weekend shifts, so it means that there's about a £1,000 difference between my payslip and those that are working those kinds of shifts or hours."

Ghanaian doctor joins US Army after relocation
