One major action at the conference will be the delegates' deliberation on 59 proposed amendments to the party’s constitution.
Key among the proposed amendments is the expansion of the number of delegates involved in the election of the party's presidential candidate, suggesting a potential reform of the controversial Electoral College.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, explained that the 59 motions are due to a thorough review process involving more than 300 proposed amendments submitted to the party’s Amendments Committee.
“In all, we have about a little over 50 motions. You may have one amendment, which will have about 50 proposed amendments. So, what the motions are doing is to consolidate the various issues that come around, and the members will have to vote on those motions,” Osei Owusu told Accra-based Channel One TV.
He added that they have compiled the motions into a booklet, which had already been previewed by the NPP’s National Executive Committee. The documents are expected to be distributed to delegates before the voting session begins.
“All of the motions will be considered. We believe that by 4 PM we should be done,” he added.
These amendments are expected to reshape the party's structures, enhance grassroots mobilisation, and refine its democratic processes, all in a bid to strengthen the party for the 2028 elections.
Meanwhile, over 5,500 delegates from across the country are expected to be present at the conference.
NPP members file injunction against conference
Despite the scheduled National Delegates Conference, two party members filed a motion for an injunction at the High Court on Friday, July 18, 2025.
The two members are Shamsudeen Iddrisu and Boateng Kwadwo.

According to the plaintiffs, the party has failed to abide by its constitution, which requires that constituency and regional delegates conferences must be held before a National Delegates Conference is convened.
They argued that the NPP’s National Council (NEC) does not have the power to waive these constitutional requirements. They stated that only the National Annual Delegates Conference itself, as the supreme governing body of the party, has the sole authority to waive such provisions.
According to the plaintiffs, they shared their grievances in a formal petition with the NEC, but they still went ahead to organise the conference. They therefore want the court to place an interlocutory injunction on the Extraordinary Delegates Conference.
However, the party's Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, told Accra-based Joy FM that the NPP had not been served any notice.
