Obuasi Helicopter Crash: Edem Agbana Inconsolable As He Mourns Victims at Wreath-Laying Ceremony

The Member of Parliament for the Ketu North constituency, Eric Edem Agbana, attended the wreath-laying ceremony to honour the memory of the eight people who died in the tragic helicopter crash on Friday, August 8, 2025.

The ceremony was held in front of the Jubilee House as part of a series of national mourning activities ahead of the state burial scheduled for August 15, 2025.
Many government officials, including the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Communications Minister Sam George, YEA CEO Malik Basintale, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and his Deputy, James Gyakye Quayson, were present at the ceremony.

Edem Agbana weeps at wreath-laying ceremony
At the ceremony, Eric Edem Agbana was inconsolable as he arrived to mourn the victims of the crash, who included five prominent members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Ketu North MP, sporting an all-black outfit with sunglasses, was an emotional wreck as he arrived to lay flowers to honour the memories of the victims.
Eric Edem Agbana later knelt and bowed before the images of the late cabinet ministers, Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, before leaving the ceremony.

The victims of the unfortunate incident were five political officials, including two cabinet ministers and three members of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru, the former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong, and the former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye, were on board the helicopter when tragedy struck.
Three members of the Ghana Armed Forces, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, also perished in the helicopter.
The victims were en route to the official launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), an anti-Galamsey event, in Obuasi before the tragic crash.

Omane Boamah's wife grieves over his demise
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Dr Edward Omane Boamah's wife grieved over the Defence Minister's demise in the tragic helicopter crash.
In a video, Rita Omane Boamah sat in her seat silently as she and her family members received numerous visitors who trooped to her residence to mourn her husband's death.
The footage of Dr Edward Omane Boamah's wife in an emotional state evoked sadness from Ghanaians on social media.
