Ghana's Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has urged Ghanaians to take spiritual prophecies seriously.

This call comes in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, which claimed eight lives.

"Let’s take spiritual prophecies seriously. In this grieving, always for our good and continue to thank him for giving us this precious life for the service rendered to us, and we pray that he finds a good place in Jannah," he said.

The Speaker of Parliament made these remarks when he led a parliamentary delegation to the residence of the late Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru.

Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central in the Northern Region of Ghana, lost his life in the tragic helicopter crash which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Speaker Bagbin expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of eight lives and prayed for eternal rest for their souls.

The incident also claimed the lives of Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru, Former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong, and Former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye.

The crew members who also lost their lives are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Reacting to this in a discussion with YEN.com.gh, Apostle Okai, senior pastor at the Elim Church in Accra, stated that Speaker Alban Bagbin's call for Ghanaians to take genuine prophecies seriously was rooted in his belief in the word of God and the power of prophecies.

He further added that tragic loss is a testament that death is inevitable, and when the time comes, no one can escape it.

"Death is death, and the path of death no one can escape. It is sad to lose a loved one in such a horrific manner," he said.

Eight bodies retrieved from helicopter crash site

A rescue team led by the Ghana Armed Forces combed the dense forest at the crash site for several hours after the tragedy to retrieve the bodies.

The remains were later transported to Accra, after which the Health Minister arranged for them to be sent to South Africa for DNA analysis.

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, the DNA results arrived in Ghana, where Health Minister Kwabena Mintah received them and handed them over to IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno for further action.

The results of Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Limuna Muniru, both Muslims, were reportedly shared digitally to enable their burial on Sunday per Islamic customs.

Ghanaian pastor's prophecy about helicopter crash surfaces

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh reported that a video of a man of God, Prophet Nana Kwame, prophesying a helicopter accident in Ghana surfaced after the deaths of eight people in a crash.

Following the Obuasi tragedy that claimed eight lives on August 6, 2025, prophecies shared by several Ghanaian preachers prior to the incident also surfaced on social media.

One prophet rose to prominence after a video he shared a day before the crash, calling on the Defence Minister to contact him, went viral. Pastor Nana Kwame was hailed as well.
