Dr Bryan Acheampong, a flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has outlined his financial contributions to the party's electoral efforts.

According to him, he played a crucial role in supporting the NPP's parliamentary candidates in the Eastern Region during the 2024 elections.

Speaking to some delegates, Dr Acheampong, who is the MP for Abetifi, also stated that he financed 27 out of 33 NPP parliamentary candidates in the Eastern Region, providing each with GH¢100,000 monthly.

He further stated that he had given GH¢2 million each to 26,000 NPP polling station executives in November 2024.

“I financed 27 out of the 33 NPP parliamentary candidates in the Eastern Region during the 2024 elections, giving each GHS 100,000 every month. I also gave GHS 2 million each to 26,000 NPP polling station executives in November, 2024," he said.

As the NPP prepares for its presidential primary on January 31, 2026, Dr. Acheampong may be relying on his financial contributions to the party to influence delegates' decisions to vote for him.

Other flagbearer hopefuls of the NPP

The NPP flag-bearer aspirant's assertions come amid a competitive race, with other notable contenders, including Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central, Dr Yaw Adutwum, former Education Minister, Kwabena Agyapong, former General Secretary, and Boakye Agyarko, former Minister of Energy.

Although each of the aspirants could boast of significant followings among the grassroots of the party, the main contenders for the flag-bearer race are Dr Bawumia, Ghana's former Vice-President, and Kennedy Agyapong.

The duo contested the flag-bearer race in November 2023, but Dr Bawumia emerged victorious, polling over 60 percent of the votes.

NPP youth organisers declare support for Bawumia

Meanwhile, a group of 490 youth organisers from the opposition NPP reportedly pledged their support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana's former Vice-President, ahead of the party's upcoming presidential primary.

The endorsement occurred during a strategic meeting on July 29, 2025, where delegates from various constituencies voiced their confidence in the politician's leadership, achievements, and vision for Ghana’s future.

This comes shortly after the NPP opened nominations for qualified party members to run in the flagbearer race, which is set for January 31, 2026.

In a media statement, the youth organisers commended Dr Bawumia's steadfast dedication to national progress.

Finance experts join Kennedy Agyapong's campaign

In a related development, YEN.com.gh reported that several finance experts affiliated with the NPP had endorsed Kennedy Agyapong's candidacy.
