Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, has sparked yet another controversy with his recent comments about the origins of the Asante Golden Stool, popularly known as the Sika Dwa Kofi.
The Golden Stool, a sacred symbol of the Ashanti kingdom, is historically said to have been commanded from the sky by Okomfo Anokye, the first priest of the Ashanti Kingdom, on a Friday night in 1700, and placed on the lap of the first Asante king, Nana Osei Tutu I.

However, according to the Dormaahene, who is the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Council, the claim that the Golden Stool descended from the sky is false.
Speaking at the launch of the Bonokyempem Council, the Dormaahene pointed to the recent public appearance of the Sika Dwa Kofi during Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's Silver Jubilee celebration and suggested that the stool's design indicates it was welded, rather than divinely summoned.
"As for this one, I will say it. If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, it’s a lie. Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently unveiled? It looked welded,” he questioned.
