Former President of Ghana, William Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, attended the state funeral service for the eight victims of the tragic helicopter crash at the Black Stars Square on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The mortal remains of six out of the eight victims whose lives were claimed in the ghastly military helicopter crash had earlier arrived at the Black Star Square for the final funeral rites.
Prominent officials from the current NDC government, including Communications Minister Sam George, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Ablah Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, and many others, attended the funeral service.

Political party leaders Nana Kwame Bediako, Hassan Ayariga, and Ivor Kobina Greenstreet also attended the solemn service at the Black Stars Square.
The families of the eight victims who died in the tragic helicopter crash were also present at the funeral grounds to pay their last respects and observe their burial.
Akufo-Addo attends crash victims' state funeral
In a video shared by renowned blogger Gossips24TV on Instagram, former President Nana Akufo-Addo was spotted arriving at the Black Stars Square inside his luxurious Mercedes-Benz Maybach vehicle.
The former leader of Ghana, wearing a black suit and tie, looked sad as he alighted and waved to the crowd that had gathered at the entrance of the funeral grounds.

Akufo-Addo was later escorted to the funeral grounds by his security detail, who had led his vehicle as part of his security protocol.
He was later seen exchanging pleasantries with some dignitaries and other individuals as he and his wife, and former First Lady, Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo, entered the event grounds.

Omane Boamah's mother weeps at the funeral
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Dr Edward Omane Boamah's mother wept as she and her family attended the state funeral for her late son and seven other victims of the helicopter crash.
In a video, the mother of the late Defence Minister needed consoling from some individuals as she mourned her son during her arrival with her grandchildren at the Black Stars Square.
The footage of Dr Edward Omane Boamah's mother in an emotional state at the funeral service evoked sadness among many Ghanaians who offered comforting words on social media.
