“Apply for Reinstatement”: NPP Tells Suspended Members and Those Being Probed for Indiscipline

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked all members who were suspended or have any disciplinary case against them to apply for reinstatement.
This general amnesty to all affected members was disclosed in a statement signed by the Acting National Chairman, Mr Danquah Smith Buttey.

In a statement shared on social media, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey stated that they reached this agreement at an emergency National Council meeting held on July 25, 2025.
The statement, which was dated August 16, 2025, indicated that the move is to promote unity and reconciliation.
“I write to inform you that the National Council at its Emergency Meeting held on Friday, July 25, 2025, resolved in the interest of unity and reconciliation to grant a General Amnesty to all Party members who have been suspended or whose disciplinary cases are currently pending before the appropriate adjudicatory bodies.”
“We hereby serve notice that this directive lifts all such suspensions and waives any ongoing proceedings against affected members,” the statement added.
He entreated suspended members to:
"Submit a formal application to the national secretariat for reinstatement. Upon reinstatement, you shall remain ineligible to contest any internal party election until a mandatory two-year period has elapsed.”
“This measure reflects the Party’s unwavering commitment to fostering internal cohesion, strengthening solidarity, and preparing collectively for the political tasks ahead.”

Kofi Tonto calls for unity in NPP
