Following the arrest of Sir Obama Pokuase, a group known as the Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) called for his immediate release.
In a statement issued on August 13, 2025, the group described the arrest as unlawful and politically motivated, claiming it was intended to silence critics of the ruling government.
"We wish to remind President John Dramani Mahama and his government that Ghana is a democratic state governed by the rule of law, not a dictatorship where dissenting voices are shut down. Freedom of speech, association, and political expression are non-negotiable rights that no administration has the mandate to trample upon," he added.
