A footballer is in critical condition after a devastating car crash that claimed the lives of his pregnant wife and their unborn child.

The tragedy reportedly occurred around 4 pm on Saturday, July 26, in Poland, when a speeding BMW rammed into the rear of Kevin Ricardo Sanchez Garcia’s Fiat Seicento.

The force of the impact propelled the UKS Czułowianka Tychy player’s car into another vehicle ahead, leaving it completely wrecked.

Paramedics carried out an emergency C-section in a desperate bid to save the baby, but the newborn, rushed to a hospital in Katowice, Poland, did not survive.

Her husband, Kevin Ricardo Sanchez Garcia, was left with critical injuries - including multiple brain hematomas, a fractured pelvis, and damaged kidneys—and remains in a coma, according to an online fundraiser for his treatment.

The campaign states via Daily Star:

"He is currently in a coma, but doctors are preparing to wake him soon. Ahead lies a long and painful journey toward recovery, both physically and emotionally.
"Kevin will require intensive rehabilitation, specialised care, and psychological support to help him cope with a new and heartbreaking reality."

Garcia plays for the seventh-tier club UKS Czułowianka Tychy.

A club spokesperson urged:

"Let’s come together and support him through this heartbreaking time."
