Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, a well-known figure in both Ghanaian football and politics, has sadly passed away.

Though the cause of death hasn’t been officially confirmed, sources say he died after a brief illness on Saturday, May 31, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.

Ade Coker passes away: Ghana football loses a stalwart

Ade Coker made his mark in football administration when he served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association.

His time at the helm came during a defining era in the country’s football journey, where his presence and decisions left a lasting impact.

He was also an ardent supporter of one of Ghana's historic football clubs, Accra Great Olympics, where he rose through the ranks to serve as the chairman of the Dade Boys, per Ghanasoccernet.

His appointment as the vice-chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) automatically made him the vice-chairman of the GFA in 1997.

The 68-year-old also formed the now-defunct AC Olympiacos in the early 2000s. They featured in the lower tiers of Ghana's football pyramid for many years before their exit.

The GFA joined hands with the football community and the wider Ghanaian public to mourn the death of Ade Coker. The football association paid a touching tribute on social media.

"The Ghana Football Association mourns the passing of our former Vice President, Joseph Ade Coker," wrote the GFA on X.
"A dedicated servant of the game whose leadership and passion greatly shaped Ghana football. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones."

Young football administrator passes away in tragic circumstances

In an earlier tragic report, YEN.com.gh revealed that Ghanaian football administrator Jonas Sena Dorho was allegedly killed on his farm in Nkoranza.

Dorho, known for his dual role in sports and agriculture, owned Division Two side Nkoranza Adehyea FC and operated Jon-Dor Ventures, a business dealing in Ammonium Sulphate.
