The South Korean icon was captaining Spurs for one last time, playing in front of an adoring home crowd, according to Goal.
But before the emotions could settle, Brennan Johnson stole the moment with a fourth-minute opener, reminding everyone that it was still business on the pitch.
Newcastle United responded with composure, finding the equaliser through Harvey Barnes in the 38th minute, per Sportsmole.

Kudus drops Newcastle defender with stunning skill
In the 65th minute, with Son receiving a hero’s send-off, Kudus made his entrance. The crowd cheered, perhaps unaware they were moments away from witnessing a piece of magic.
Though the game’s rhythm was disrupted, most notably by a concerning injury to James Maddison, who had to be stretchered off, Kudus didn’t let the disjointed pace hold him back.
A long ball floated toward the right flank. Kudus gave chase. Cornered and with few options, most would have played it safe.
But the Ghanaian had other ideas. With the crowd watching closely, he conjured up a cheeky moment of flair.
Trapped against the touchline and under pressure from Valentino Livramento, Kudus flicked the ball past the defender with a move that looked almost impossible from that angle.
