Tottenham Hotspur’s marquee summer arrival, Mohammed Kudus, is still chasing a significant milestone in his Spurs career after four pre-season matches.

Although the 24-year-old Ghanaian midfielder has displayed clear talent and delivered eye-catching performances, he has so far only registered a single assist since making the switch from West Ham United.

Mohammed Kudus, the Black Stars forward who joined Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham in a £55 million move reported by the BBC, has been viewed as a major statement signing by the club, with Spurs awarding him a six-year deal.

Following a 4-0 pre-season defeat to Bayern Munich on Thursday, Thomas Frank’s side now turn their attention to an important UEFA Super Cup showdown with Paris Saint-Germain, where the ex-Ajax midfielder is expected to feature.

Mohammed Kudus issues strong warning following top Burnley performance

Kudus, who was recently praised by Ghana legend Dan Owusu, made his competitive Tottenham debut on July 19, 2025, in a 2-0 victory over Reading.

The former Ajax and West Ham man impressed with his sharp movement and good link-up play, providing the assist for the opening goal—an early glimpse of the creativity Spurs supporters hope he will deliver consistently.

That assist remains his only direct goal contribution so far. Since then, he has played in matches against Luton Town, Arsenal, and Newcastle United without adding to his tally.

Nevertheless, according to TBR Football, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank praised the Ghanaian for his performance in the win over Arsenal.

Kudus equals key Spurs record after impressive display against Burnley

His knack for weaving past defenders and creating space has been pivotal in keeping Spurs’ attack fluid during pre-season.

In the North London derby against Arsenal, Kudus was arguably Tottenham’s standout performer, even though the match ended in a draw.

“I thought Kudus was outstanding today. His hold-up play was exceptional, and the way he protects the ball in tight situations is remarkable. His one-on-one skills and creativity in the final third were top quality.''
“What’s equally important is the effort he puts in defensively. There was a moment after a set piece when he sprinted back to win possession — that kind of commitment makes a huge difference. He excites supporters going forward but also contributes at the back. He’s a massive asset to this team.” Thomas Frank said.

Tottenham's next fixture

Following a 7 August defeat to Bayern Munich — in which Kudus struggled to make an impact — Spurs will next meet Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on 13 August.

A goal in that match would be an ideal way for the former West Ham United playmaker to introduce himself to the Tottenham faithful on a grand stage.

Given his attacking instincts and composure under pressure, it wouldn’t be surprising if his first goal arrived in one of these marquee games.

In the meantime, Tottenham fans are eager to see Kudus break his duck before the 2025/26 Premier League season kicks off. He came close in a goalless pre-season clash with Luton Town, beating the goalkeeper with a powerful shot, only for a defender to clear it off the line.

While the match lacked attacking fireworks, Kudus, who earned massive support from Micky Charles, delivered one of Spurs’ best moments, showing his sharp instincts and ability to create danger in tight spaces.

His quick feet and smart positioning regularly stretched Luton’s defence, underscoring his role as a constant attacking threat even without a goal.
