John Dumelo’s Farm
In 2012, he also started his agriculture journey. John Dumelo has become known for his passion for farming over the last few years and has begun a rice milling farm. He owns over 2000 acres of farmland that yield crop produce like rice, maize, ginger, mushrooms, cabbage, rearing snails and more. He uses his influence to woo the youth in Ghana to veer into agriculture. Most of his leisure time is spent at the farms.

John Dumelo has been an advocate against illegal mining in Ghana (galamsey) and has been vocal about the need to protect the environment. He has also been involved in several campaigns to raise awareness about the dangers of galamsey, including public protests.
Politics
John Dumelo has expressed interest in running for the presidency of Ghana. To start his political career, he contested for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate but lost to Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020. He came back stronger to defeat Alhassan in 2024.
On February 5, 2025, President John Mahama appointed Dumelo as the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture. He was sworn in on March 12.
